What makes a light turn on? Join Jennifer and Daniel as you explore a simple battery-powered circuit with an adult. Open and close the switch, then watch what happens to the lamp. Draw what you discover and see why electricity needs a complete path.

Does electric current always flow in the same direction? Jennifer and Daniel invite you to compare direct current, DC, with alternating current, AC. Use paper arrows and a moving marker to show one-way motion and back-and-forth motion. Discover how a simple model can help explain an invisible part of Tesla’s world.

Can electric current help a magnet pick up paper clips? Join Jennifer and Daniel as you explore an electromagnet with an adult and a classroom kit. Compare what happens when the current is switched on and off. Count the paper clips and record what electricity and magnetism can do together.

Can a balloon move tiny pieces of paper without touching them? Try this static electricity activity with Jennifer and Daniel to find out. Rub a balloon with a dry cloth, bring it near the paper, and watch closely. Compare your observations before and after rubbing to discover how electric charge can cause attraction.

Imagine stepping into a fairground filled with electric lights in 1893. Join Jennifer and Daniel as you create a miniature display inspired by Chicago’s World’s Columbian Exposition. Design paper buildings, plan pathways, and add drawn lights or enclosed battery lights with an adult. Think about how lighting changed what visitors could see and do after sunset.

What everyday problem would you like to solve? Join Jennifer and Daniel as you begin your own inventor’s notebook. Sketch an idea, build a simple paper or cardboard prototype, and test one feature. Record what happened and decide what you would change next.It All Begins Here
